LEBAM - A Raymond woman was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital with head injuries Wednesday while State Route 6 near Track Creek Road was closed for more than four hours.

According to Washington State Patrol, Rebecca Nicolich, 56, had gotten out of her vehicle and was removing a deer carcass from the centerline of the roadway three miles west of Lebam a little after 7 p.m.

While attempting to move the deer, Nicolich was struck by the driver's side mirror of Cherie Reeves' 1994 Honda Civic, in the eastbound lane.

On Thursday, a spokesman for Tacoma General Hospital said Nicolich's condition could not be released.

Reeves, 22, had an estimated $500 in damage to her car, but was able to drive away from the scene.
