RAYMOND - Zakariah B. "Zack" Brown Jr., 79, a lifetime Raymond resident, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002 at his home. He was born Feb. 14, 1923 in Raymond to Zakariah B. and Melissa (Winters) Brown.

He was a graduate of Raymond High School. He also served in the United States Army during World War II.

He worked for over 25 years at the local Public Utility District No. 2 in Raymond. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 150, the V.F.W. Post No. 968, the Raymond Elks Lodge, the Raymond Eagles Lodge and the 11th Airborne Division Association.

He was married to Billie Jane Holmes in 1950 in Raymond. She preceded him in death on July 24, 1993.

Mr. Brown enjoyed driving, watching movies, reading, and most of all his family.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Ellen Brown of Denver, Colo., Melissa Ashlock of Montesano, Valarie May Smith and Cynthia Lu Brown-Springer, both of Chehalis; a sister, Zelda Lee Olsen of Aberdeen; a brother, Del Brown of Raymond; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services were held on Dec. 27 at the Menlo Cemetery where full military honors were accorded by the American Legion Post No. 150 and the V.F.W. Post No. 968.

Arrangements were under the direction of Stoller's Mortuary in Raymond. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Post 968 Building Fund, 203 Duryea Street, Raymond, WA 98577.
