KLIPSAN Alice M. Hoodenpyle, 69, died at her Klipsan Beach residence on Nov. 11, 2013, surrounded by the family she loved. The daughter of Dorsey and Doris Geiger, she was born Nov. 18, 1943 in The Dalles, Ore. She graduated from The Dalles High School and on Dec. 2, 1961, married Frank Hoodenplye in The Dalles.
Moving to Portland, Alice was a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a professional cake baker who also was employed in other retail jobs. Family was paramount however. Having vacationed often on the Peninsula, she and Frank moved to Klipsan Beach seven years ago.
Alice enjoyed cooking and baking and video games. She loved birds, bears, the outdoors and her three Yorkies. Very much her own person, she was a woman with a strong work ethic and convictions who enjoyed being a homemaker and mother.
Beside her husband of nearly 52 years, Alice is survived by daughter, Marcella Ryerson of Portland, Ore.; sons, Cary Lee Hoodenpyle and Tyler Hoodenpyle both of Vancouver; a brother, LeRoy Geiger of Thailand; and her grandchildren, Samantha Hoodenpyle, Morgan Hemphill, and Ajay and Marissa Ryerson. Her parents preceded her in death.
A graveside service was held at Lone Fir Cemetery in Long Beach. A gathering to honor her life was held at the family home in Klipsan Beach. Her guest book is available on-line at www.penttilaschapel.com.
