Charles “Chaz” Joseph Remsing

    OCEAN PARK — Charles “Chaz” Remsing, 75, died April 2, 2012, in Ocean Park. He was born Sept. 6, 1936, to Charlie Remsing and Opal (Dinkins) Remsing in Bismarck, N.D. He was a graduate of Battle Ground High School, where he enjoyed sports and was on the football team.

    After having several jobs, including gas station attendant, Chuck started working for Boise Cascade and worked there for 42 years, working in the Vancouver, Salem, Ore., and Wallula Paper Mills.

    In 1966 he married the love of his life, Norma Winterroth, in Reno, Nev. Together they shared over 40 years of wedded bliss. Chuck was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the Washington Coast. He especially looked forward to yearly hunting camp in Idaho, fishing for tuna and salmon, and taking his grandkids out on his boat to see lighthouses.

    Chuck is survived by his daughter, Sally Chase (Robert); son, Mark Remsing (Joann Bryant); grandchildren, Randee Anderson, Devon Remsing, Victoria Chase, Caroline Chase and Robert H. Chase; his sisters, June Stillman and Celia Prew; sisters-in-law, Tresau Winterroth, Erma Winterroth and Jeanette Winterroth; a brother-in-law, Donald Winterroth, and many nieces, nephews, wonderful friends, and hunting and fishing buddies. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Opal, and wife, Norma.

    A celebration of life will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., May 20, at the Firstenburg Center in Vancouver. Arrangements are by Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver.
