Corey Scott Coleman

Corey Scott Coleman

ILWACO — Corey Scott Coleman, 57, of Ilwaco lost his battle to cancer on Aug. 1, 2013. He was at home surrounded by family.

Corey was born Dec. 22, 1955, in Portland to Walt and Kay Coleman. Corey and his family moved to Ilwaco in the late 1970s. He met his loving partner Sandi Fritz in 1986. Corey and Sandi lived in Naselle and along the Long Beach Peninsula until his passing.

Corey, like his father, was an avid outdoorsman. He spent several years commercial fishing in Alaska and in his free time would archery hunt the Pacific Northwest woods or fish along the Grays River.

Corey is survived by his mother, Kay Coleman; his partner, Sandi Fritz; brother, Jamie Coleman; sister, Kathy Asher; daughter, Hollie Clark and son-in-law, Corey Clark; three stepdaughters, Tasha Murray, Tracy Yates and Trina Little. He will be forever missed by his two nieces, four nephews and seven grandchildren Mikaela Smith, Hayden Yates, Hailey Murray, Seirra Murray, Madalynn Yates, Kai Wiegardt and Colton Wiegardt. He was preceded in death by his father, Walt Coleman; brother, Ron Coleman and sister-in-law Leslie Mehrlich.

The family would like to extend an invitation to anyone who knew Corey and his sarcastic, good humored nature to join us in an open house celebration of life at the Long Beach Elks on Sunday, Aug. 11 between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Coffee and refreshments will be provided.
