Howard R. Johnson

VANCOUVER — Howard R. Johnson, 82, lost his battle with bladder cancer on Feb. 11, 2011, in Vancouver. He was born Dec. 5, 1928, in Rock Creek/Battle Ground to Ralph and LaVerna Johnson.

He and Shirley Hazelwood married in 1948 and had two daughters. She died six years ago.

Mr. Johnson spent the last four years of his life with his family building his dream cabin in Oysterville.  As a child his family stayed there for months at a time.  He spent as much time as possible there with his girlfriend, Evelyn Thompson, and their huge lab puppy, Tanker.

Survivors include his daughters and their husbands, Pamela (Mike) Taskey and Debra (Terry) Dusenberry, all of Clark County, four granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.

An open house memorial will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Feb. 26 at Jollies Restaurant off I-5 in Ridgefield.
