FLORIDA — David Cletus Helvey, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 45 at his residence in Navarre, Florida, on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020.
David was born Jan. 18, 1975, in Port Angeles, Washington, to Joseph and Jeannine Helvey (Hebert). He spent his early years in Forks, Washington, and finished High School in Naselle, Washington. David joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country in various different states and countries, including Japan and England. David recently retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after 26 years of dedicated service. He received several honors and awards for his commitment, integrity, and exemplary leadership and work ethic.
He married Michele Helvey on June 25, 2019. David most loved spending time with his wife and children. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, his pets and doing home improvement projects. He will be remembered as a humble, kind and caring man who was easy to like and respect, had a heart of gold, and was always ready to serve and to love.
David is survived by his parents, Joseph and Jeannine Helvey of Naselle, Washington; his wife, Michele; his two children, Cayden and Logan; his brother Tim (and wife Kristin) of Anchorage, Alaska; his sister, Trina (and husband Eddie) who resides in the Netherlands; and his brother Matthew (and wife Jenny) of Chinook, Washington; as well as seven nephews, one niece and a large extended family.
A funeral Mass of Resurrection will be held in Scotts Mills, Oregon, on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church. David will be laid to rest at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
The family has designated the 22q Family Foundation for memorial contributions.
