VANCOUVER — Richard “Dick” Bonney, 69, died Sept. 20, 2014, in Vancouver. He was born Nov. 9, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pa. He and Colleen McMahon were married in 1987.
Dick was in the U.S. Coast Guard for 26 years and had been stationed on the East Coast and then at Cape Disappointment for eight years. At Cape D he taught at the Motor Lifeboat School.
After retirement the couple made their home in Battle Ground.
Dick was an avid fisherman. He loved to travel and was the captain of a tour boat in Phoenix, Ariz., for a time. A past member of the Beach Barons Car Club, his last project was building an antique car. Additionally he enjoyed spending time with his extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his two children, a son and a daughter, and other members of his extended family.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Battle Ground. A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart at 9 a.m. on Oct. 8 with a burial following at 1 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery.
