LONG BEACH — Long Beach resident Richard A. Rautio, 62, died in Ilwaco on June 11, 2011. A native of Seattle, he was born there on Dec. 11, 1948, the son of William and Neva (Helm) Rautio.

A 24-year resident of the Peninsula, he was employed as a maintenance man for Peninsula Sanitation for a number of years before becoming a teachers aid in local schools. He was a husband, father, grandfather and friend to many who will miss his presence.

Survivors include his children, Selena Allen of Pennsylvania, Jennifer Rautio of Hermiston, Ore., Joshua Rautio of Seattle, Terry Hoover of Long Beach and Jimmy Hoover of Mississippi; a sister, Barbara Krout of Texas; and other members of his extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline.

Family and friends gathered recently at Lone Fir Cemetery in Long Beach for graveside rites. His guest book is available at www.penttilaschapel.com
