It is quite unusual for us to get Siamese kitties in for adoption — they are such neat cats that people tend to hang onto them! But right now at the shelter, we have several wonderful Siamese mixes just ready to come home with you.

Oscar and his brother-from-another-mother Jasper are drop dead handsome Himalayan mixes. These charming cats were developed by crossing Persian cats with Siamese cats. So, not only do they have the intelligent and quirky personality of the Siamese and the gorgeous blue eyes, they have the soft “bunny fur” coats for which they are known.

These guys are both in a colony room, so they do get along with other cats. This is a plus because a lot of people who have cats are the ones who are want another cat. After all, to quote a famous potato chip commercial: “you can’t have just one.”

We also have several very pretty lynx point Siamese. These kitties were created by crossing tabby cats with their pretty stripes with Siamese cats. The result is a Siamese-appearing cat who has stripes on their “points” like their legs and ears. Like all Siamese, these points can come in different colors and the beauties we have are known as “red point” or flame point Siamese.

It is soon to be kitten season, and we are asking our followers to look into their hearts and consider adopting an adult cat. We have other charming adult kitties including our Siamese mix guys, all wanting nothing more than to come home with you and get your love and attention. It can be difficult for the adult cats go get homes once the little ones start arriving. Please come in and look at, or even better, adopt a new best kitty friend. Those of us who are cat lovers know that it is not only dogs who can be a New Best Friend.

The evening of the dinner and silent auction celebrating 20 years of sheltering and care for pets in our community is coming this weekend, April 23 from 4-7pm. It will be held at the Chinook School

There will be a great pasta dinner and a fabulous silent auction all for $25. We are getting fantastic auction items in daily, and want to sincerely thank our supporters who have donated to the auction. You are the reason we can make it happen for homeless pets and we truly couldn’t do it without you.

Tickets and info are available at or at the door. Come and spend an enjoyable evening of “schmoozing” with fellow pet lovers and supporting your Humane Society at the same time!
