All Pacific County citizens should now have our Washington state general election ballots. Take time this week to fill out, sign and mail them. This is an important election for many reasons.
On the local level, please remember that Steve Rogers and Frank Wolfe are doing a fine job as county commissioners. Any elected official is bound to make a decision now and then that somebody doesn’t like, but the key is to support candidates who work hard to understand the issues and try to be fair. Rogers and Wolfe are among the best county commissioners we’ve had in decades — smart, low-key and even-handed. We should keep them in office.
There are some underhanded efforts to make legislative candidate Teresa Purcell appear unappealing to District 19 voters. In fact, she is a moderate person with deep local roots, unlike her opponent. That she knows people like Gov. Jay Inslee and U.S. Sen. Patty Murray is a huge plus for our area. Let’s put Purcell into office in Olympia, where her colleagues Dean Takko and Brian Blake look forward to working with her in support of local people and industries.
