We came to Long Beach this past weekend with another couple to see the Sandcastle contests. We came for the weekend even though the weather was bad. We always enjoy your town but we had a bad experience this time.

We were on the beach at the beginning of the sandcastle building and enjoyed watching them being built. Around 2 p.m. we decided to go back to our rooms for an hour and come back and watch the judging which was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. When we arrived back around 3:20 p.m., we found the sandcastles washed out to sea and the awards being passed out. We left the area and headed to town.

On our way to town we passed many people heading to the beach to see the sandcastles. We informed them it was over and the sandcastles were gone. A couple from San Francisco was really mad. I don't know who was in charge of this event, but you would think they would have known where the tide would be at 3:30 p.m. and had the sandcastles built higher up on the beach.

I believe the sponsors of this event should make an apology to all of us that came to your town and were disappointed.
