I attended a great play, "Deadwood Dick," at the Hilltop Auditorium.
I was surprised to see that there was no coverage of the event in the paper.
The actors put in a lot of time and effort as could well be seen. I am sure it took an enormous amount of rehearsal time and it paid off. It was quite an experience, with wonderful costumes, wonderful dialogue and a lot of laughs. I think we are so fortunate to have these players on the Peninsula and I hope everyone will support their efforts in the future. I am sure you will have an opportunity when the next event is produced! I would have loved to see some stills from the play.
I want to extend my appreciation to all that participated from the director to the stage hands. A job well done!
EDITOR'S NOTE: For the record, in addition to the story and photo that appear on Page B1 today, the Observer dedicated its lead Feature Page story to the play the week of the performances. The play also was highlighted on the top of Page A1 that week. In all, the play was the subject of at least 10 stories and calendar notices, including three full-color photographs. If organizers had purchased an equivalent amount of advertising space, they would have spent nearly $800.
