I saw Dr. Duret, the new surgeon at Ocean Beach Hospital, and he took good care of me. How nice it is to have a surgeon on the Peninsula and not have to cross the river to Astoria to see one.

I saw Terry Finklein pass by me as I was waiting to see Dr. Duret and I asked him how he was doing and he smiled at me and that made me feel good, knowing he is doing what he can to get our rural hospital back on track.

Instead of the negative we hear about Ocean Beach Hospital, how about some of the great things it has done for the community in the past? I volunteered at the Ocean Beach Hospital Foundation’s Celebration of Christmas Lights last year and I have put in an application to volunteer at the hospital gift shop as I want to give back to the hospital.

So use my example and give back to Ocean Beach Hospital and if they did something wrong to you, go through their grievance steps to help you solve it. Sure, mistakes were made at Ocean Beach Hospital and Terry had to come out of retirement and take over as the temporary CEO and he is doing his best to fix things. But everyone make mistakes. So instead of looking for something bad in our local hospital, if you have an idea, come to the public board meetings like I do and voice your views.

So let’s get back on track everyone and get Ocean Beach Hospital out of debt and make our rural hospital the best in Washington state.
