I recently was introduced to a novel way to save money on Christmas gifts for others, while getting rid of items one doesn't know what to do with. You know what I mean - those door prizes you won, the "meant-well" but not really "your thing" gifts in your past that simply got shoved away somewhere.

Are you wondering how to get rid of them since you don't plan on ever making use of them. Now a "Buy Nothing Abundance Swap Day" idea is offered. I attended an Abundance Swap in Astoria but look forward to introducing this idea next year here on the Peninsula. This fun activity is a great way to reduce spending, recycle items and reuse them through a community pre-Christmas event.

So begin putting aside those "what am I going to do with these" gifts and plan to exchange them for items you can happily give to others. Look for the announcement of time and location between Thanksgiving and Christmas 2007.
