I am a former Firefighter/EMT of the Ilwaco Fire Department with seven-plus years of service to Ilwaco.

As I saw pictures of the fire, I couldn't help but be flooded with so many memories of my time spent with Ilwaco and my fellow firefighters. My heart goes out to all current and former firefighters. There are many members who have spent 20-plus years volunteering for this department that feel the same heartache as I do. Watching the fire felt like watching my home burn down.

I just want to say to all my former fellow firefighters "I miss you and I will always keep our memories in my heart." I love you all! I will forever be Ilwaco. Stay safe!

I am a former resident and a graduate of Ilwaco High School, (class of 72) and as a former volunteer and now a career firefighter in South Carolina. My thoughts and prayers are with the members of the department. It's not the structure that makes the department, it is the group of dedicated firefighters who will still answer the call. Stay low and go, Chuck Moyer

It can happen to anyone, hang in there. Your services to the community are priceless. To all the men and women of the Ilwaco fire department, we are there for you. Thanks again.
