On Sept. 23, the Ilwaco City Council met to discuss why the mayor signed a document without the council's approval, and the proposal and agreement between developer MSW and the city. Gini Chin had sent out an e-mail to the merchants of Ilwaco to protest the city council actions in this process. I must say it was a very lively meeting, but I was not impressed by the behavior of the merchants.
The overlook project is owned by state parks. There is not enough room for the run-off water of the parking lot to be retained on the property. MSW has said that the water can be retained on their property. However, state parks and MSW do not want to bear the cost of repairs and maintenance of the retention system. MSW has asked Ilwaco to repair and maintain the retention system on their property.
