My 85-year-old aunt lives in a 108-year-old house in Ilwaco. She is on a very limited income, and was in need of a ramp for better access to her home, as she had been scheduled for a knee replacement in November. Her sons live away from the Peninsula and were unable to do the work process to get it done for her.

I learned I should contact Shane Wilson at the Information and Assistance for Seniors in Long Beach (642-3634). I called her and within two hours my aunt was contacted by Rebuilding Together. They came out, took measurements and made the plans to replace her steps with a porch and ramp. Three weeks later they were at her home, ready to build! What a great bunch of volunteers! Three of them worked in the rain (on a cold, windy day) to get this finished. One came back on a Sunday to do some finish work, and another the next day to finish up. The ramp turned out beautiful.
