I have owned property on the Long Beach Peninsula for over 35 years. Originally, when I bought the property in 1973 I was aware of the problems associated with living on Sandridge Road.

Over the years those problems have not improved. Sandridge Road still needs improving. The band-aid approach isn't doing it. Even when attempted it's never finished (e.g. road reflectors). When the wind blows I still lose power. There still isn't any public transportation and there aren't any streetlights at the appropriate intersections (e.g. Pioneer Road, Cranberry Road and 227th).

When I asked the present commissioner about these things the response was that I could either pay for them myself or contact the appropriate companies to get them established.

As one of the many taxpayers that just got their taxes doubled (some tripled), that was the wrong answer.

Because of that ridiculous answer I began doing some research only to find that the present commissioner has done nothing to improve this county, even though he has been in office almost 12 years.

It is time to get rid of the dead wood in this county and get someone elected that can get the changes made that are needed in this county.

Even though I am a strong Democrat I still believe in supporting the right man for the job and I believe that man is Ray Bowman.
