The Ocean Beach School District asks the voters to renew their approval of the Maintenance and Operation Levy every three years.

We are, as are all the other districts in the state of Washington, dependent on local levy revenues for about one-quarter of our funding. This is not a new tax; it is only a renewal. It is required to fund many of the activities not funded by state and federal basic education funds. These monies help fund certificated staff and classified support staff, transportation, maintenance and custodial staff, textbooks, vocational education and all extra-curricular activities like athletics, drama and music. We are also asking for renewal of the Technology Levy to continue to provide and upgrade equipment, training and student access to technology.

Our levy’s tax rate for schools is currently one of the lowest in the state. Because we realize the community is undergoing fiscally difficult times, we have reduced the rate from our previous request. Our community has always shown their continued willingness to support school levies, even in challenging times. We thank you for your past support and we encourage you to continue to support your schools by voting in the upcoming levy. Please call any of us if you have questions.
