On Friday Dec. 26, 2008, all of the roads leaving Sahalee were sheets of ice. I foolishly attempted to get to downtown Ilwaco from Sahalee and of course wrecked my vehicle. I was stranded, but along came Les Swensen in his four-wheel drive jeep and rescued me. A short time later he rescued Mrs. Fritts who was also stranded. The residents who live in Sahalee were isolated for four days without police, fire or ambulance service. We were unable to buy food or keep doctors appointments, or fill medical prescriptions.

During that time Les and Eleanor made many trips to the grocery store, post office and many other locations for the stranded people in Sahalee.

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Swensen! Your time and efforts were very much appreciated.
