This week at the Neptune Theater, we have the opportunity to see Al Gore's movie, "An Inconvenient Truth." Fast becoming the "most successful documentary in history," it dispels the mysteries surrounding the science of global warming and illustrates, using simple but powerful arguments, "the inconvenient truths" that we must face together.
Roger Ebert says of the film, "In 39 years I have never written these words in a movie review, but here they are: You owe it to yourself to see this film. If you do not, and you have grandchildren, you should explain to them why you decided not to."
Winston Churchill wrote of another threat, "The era of procrastination, of half-measures, of soothing and baffling expedients, of delays, is coming to a close. In its place, we are entering a period of consequences."
Global warming is everyone's problem. This film will motivate you to become part of the solution. Change can be simple. Our greatest challenge as a nation is to make those changes together. Our planet depends on it.
Don't wait to see "An Inconvenient Truth." Play dates in the area are short. Kudos to the Neptune Theatre for bringing this film to the Peninsula.
