I read "Coast Chronicles" by Cate Gable each week and enjoy it very much. I would like to respond to the "Rant of the Week" in the Sept. 8 edition.

I think (hope) that the young man in line with Cate at Jack's Country Store is not representative of Christ-followers. Many Christians are fully vaccinated and wear masks where required. I'm very sorry that this man misrepresented Jesus, who said, "Love your neighbor as yourself."

I believe loving your neighbor could mean: "Don't spread a deadly disease!" At least three times in the New Testament we are told to obey the governing authorities. It's OK to follow Jesus and to listen to the medical profession, too!

By way of context, my sister died of covid last month.

Thanks again, Cate, for a wonderful column.
