The Boys and Girls Club of Long Beach, Wash., is closing its after-school program Oct. 27, 2019. There has to be enough support in the greater Long Beach community to save this program. My wife and I will commit the first $1,000 if a way can be found to keep the program open.

Before our daughter and her three kids moved the Boys and Girls Club was a haven for them especially in our long winter. Pacific County is one of the lowest income counties in Washington state and that means programs like the Boys and Girls Club are lifelines to the future of our kids. My wife and I will contribute a $1,000 to start. Come on Peninsula, let’s make this happen.

EDITOR'S NOTE: While we report this week that the Boys and Girls Club has ceased active operations, we're nevertheless publishing letters calling for support in case they may prove useful in helping the club reopen.
