I recently read an editorial response to the Chinook Observer by Pacific County Prosecutor, Mark McClain. After an encounter that I had a while ago with Mr. McClain and his prosecuting attorneys, I tend to support and believe the Chinook reporter. Although I have no firsthand information on the story that was reported, I see no reason why the reporter would be less than truthful. Also, Mr. McClain apparently had opportunity for a rebuttal before publication and neglected to do so.

My previous experience with Mr. McClain leads me to the opinion (and this is my opinion) that he as well as his attorneys are more interested in winning than telling the truth. Even when I confronted him about the fact that his attorneys lied to the court in order to win, he defended them and replied that he was of the same opinion as his attorneys and fully supported them. My opinion (again) if someone will lie once they may do so again.

I commend the Chinook Observer for standing by their reporter.
