The Observer’s Wednesday issue offered a lengthy piece on Jaime Herrera Beutler, written after her unscheduled visit to the paper’s office. She presented her views on many issues, describing herself as fitting Washington’s Third District in being “right of center.”

But on Feb. 27, the same day this long interview appeared, Ms. Herrera Beutler voted in Congress against expanded background checks for firearms, even though a large majority of Americans, and her own constituents, support background checks.

And while the Ocean Beach School District is trying to find capital funds to keep local students safe, our member of Congress, a mother of two herself, continues to be silent about the appalling amount of gun violence in our communities. Once again, Jaime votes with the National Rifle Association while children’s lives are at stake. We are not snowed.
