During the last couple of months, Coastal Alliance for Youth (CAY), like others, has had to learn to manage with all the challenges covid-19 presents. We continue to push forward. We also want to acknowledge the pain that is being felt throughout the country in regards to the current protests. During our time of re-imagination of the organization, CAY commits to examine our values, policies, and goals to ensure a foundation with inclusivity and equality in the forefront.
CAY is currently looking into the Nita M. Lowey-21st Century Grant to help fund a youth program. This grant would provide substantial funding to ensure a successful youth program. Grant information will be released in early September and is due Nov. 5. If we were fortunate to be a recipient of this grant, the program would start no later than Jan. 5, 2021.
The uncertainties that the world is experiencing present challenges when planning a new youth program. What will the year look like for our schools, and school for our kids? Will after school programming be allowed and if so, how do we keep the kids safe? How do we help youth learn and support teachers and families in this new environment? We are interested in your input. Please take a few moments to share your thoughts in our survey; found here https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8B97VZ9 or on our website at www.coastalallianceforyouth.org.
We are looking for community members to join us. New board members are needed as are grant writers, website designers, financial professionals and anyone who has ideas and the desire to enhance our community. If you are interested, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It is our wish that you find hope in our efforts and we can come together for the future of our youth. Please stay safe and know that CAY is rooting for our community and its families!
