I was shocked and disappointed when I read the article last week about Mike Swanson, my brother. I was so disappointed in my brother for his behavior while under the influence of alcohol.

On the other hand, I was proud of him for taking responsibility for his actions that occurred 5 years ago. He was remorseful and repentant. He did not deny the allegations, even though he does not remember them as his accuser did and as the Chinook Observer chose to print. He did not slander her with a rebuttal. This incident was handled appropriately five years ago.

Today the victim wants to continue punishing Mike. It seems important to her that she ruins my brother's reputation by publicly shaming not only him but his entire family. It appears that his apology and remorse five years ago was not punishment enough.

I stand in support of Mike Swanson, not just because he is my brother but because he is a good guy. He is an honorable and imperfect man.
