On Saturday March 9, the local Chapter of the American Association of University Women held their 13th Annual Scholarship Tea. This event is held each year during Women’s History Month. During the presentation young women are honored for their excellence in the areas of Science, Technology, Science and Math (STEM) and the students at Ilwaco High School donate their time and energy serving the refreshments to the guests.

A thank you goes out to those who contributed to making this event a success, including Azure Salon, Beach House Tea, Chinook Observer, The Depot, Home at the Beach, Long Beach Elks, Long Beach Pharmacy, Okie’s Thriftway, Raymond Federal Bank and Time Enough Books. Thanks to Mike Carmel for photography and all the members and others who helped set up and pack up.

A special thanks those who attended and took part in the support of our young people in the community. Music was provided by Bill and Janet Clark.

The Willapa Branch of the AAUW is able to award scholarships due to the participation of the community and ours is a community that cares about our students. Thank you all!
