The holiday season is ending, and I want to take this opportunity to thank so many members of our wonderful community. On behalf of the Long Beach Elks and myself, our thanks to the participation of the 45 volunteers who cooked, served, cleaned and delivered more than 900 dinners on Thanksgiving Day. We had over 90 home deliveries.

A special “kudo” to Cottage Bakery, Sid’s IGA Market, and Crown Distributing for their donations. Their contributions made it possible to feed the 900 people a wonderful dinner, complete with dessert.

The Elks National Foundation provided a $2,000 grant to help fund this occasion. Thank you, Becky Silcox, for your help in procuring this grant.

And, last but not least, our thanks to the Chinook Observer for all of the wonderful advertising.

I marvel at the large heart of our small community.
