In response to the Dec. 19 article of WSP investigations on Deputy Padgett, if only half of what the WSP investigations found on the alleged complaints were true, Padgett is not what Pacific County needs as a chief civil deputy.

Souvenir acknowledges that his brother-in-law isn’t for everyone. We don’t need someone who is arrogant, impatient with staff, with a sarcastic and cathartic sense of humor. An officer who uses foul language and makes “lewd” comments about others is not mature.

The double standard in and out of the office makes me question Padgett’s qualifications to lead as a supervisor.

Sheriff Souvenir made a mistake in hiring his brother-in-law.
