PAPA (Peninsula Association of Performing Artists) would like to thank everyone who came out for our fifth annual Swing Dance with the Dukes of Swing last month. The band was great and everyone had a great time, either listening to the music or dancing, while helping to raise money for our local American Legion chapter. We would especially like to thank The Lost Roo, The Depot Restaurant, Pickled Fish, Bailey’s Bakery & Cafe, Adelaide’s, and Lighthouse of Glory for all the great food they provided! We will be presenting our check to the American Legion, Post 48, in January, so there is still time to donate if you would like to help out in supporting our local veterans. You can donate by visiting our website www.papatheater.com and clicking on the banner for the Swing Dance. We appreciate all the community support and look forward to next year!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who donated to the Long Beach Elks Community Thanksgiving dinner! It was a huge success thanks to so many people. Thanks to: Judy and Bob Andrew for always coming through with so many wonderful pastries and breads; Sid’s IGA Market (Chuck, Mike, Faith and Troy) for donations and help; to Don Itterley, Dick Edward and Mayor Jerry Phillips who gave three days of back-breaking work prior to the event to make this happen. It wouldn’t have happened without the 58 volunteers who set up, cooked, served and visited with the more than 500 diners. These volunteers came from as far away as Utah, Cathlamet, Naselle, Vancouver, and of course, the Long Beach Peninsula. They gave up their own Thanksgiving Day to make sure everyone on the Peninsula had a place to go on Thanksgiving. The turkey dinners were also delivered to many who could not get out to eat. Thanks to those who delivered these meals.

To add to the festivities, Richard Kelly played the piano and sang, to the delight of all. If I missed anything or any one in this letter, please know you were appreciated and I apologize if I left anyone out. So many wonderful volunteers, so much good food, thank you.

I wanted to make a huge thank you from the Ilwaco music department to Dave Botting and Muriel Kiss for the donation of a huge rock drum set and lots of amazing cymbals. These drums will be used for our pep band and the cymbals will be used for our band classes. Thank you so much for thinking of our music program!

The Ilwaco Music Department received a generous donation in memory of Perry Miller in the amount of $735. I would like to thank the family of Perry Miller for thinking of the Ilwaco High School music program for your donation. Thank you!

The Ilwaco High School and Hilltop Drama program would like to thank the Friends of the Chinook Gym for the wonderful opportunity for the past several years for bringing the Ashland Shakespeare group out for our students. Loma and John Billups have worked hard to make sure the students on the Peninsula can experience this amazing educational outreach. Thank you.
