ILWACO - Abbie Smith won two events as the Naselle track team took part in a five-team meet in Ilwaco Tuesday, April 29. Smith was Naselle's only winner as she won the 800 in a time of 2:33.0 and the 1,600 in 5:50.0. Smith also placed fifth in the shot at 25 feet 9 inches.
Willapa Valley won both parts of the meet, winning the girls meet with 166 points. Ilwaco was second with 149, Cathlamet third with 101, Naselle fourth with 57, and Raymond fifth with 41 points. In the boys meet, Willapa Valley was first with 178, Ilwaco second with 125, Cathlamet third with 95, and Naselle fourth with 51, and Raymond fifth with 43 points.
The Naselle girls took one third place ribbon, where Kelli Revis finished third in the high jump. Jaimie Hines at fourth and Jamie Ahlstrom in fifth place also placed in the high jump, with no heights given for the three Naselle girls.
Fourth place Naselle girl winners were: Katherine Herrold with a 6:23 in the 1,600 and a 2:57 in the 800; Ahlstrom with a 12-foot 2-inch long jump; and the 4x100 relay teams of Hines, Ahlstrom, Rebecca Johnson, and Revis in a time of 1:04.3.
Other fifth place Naselle girl winners were: Katie Klinger with a 3:06 in the 800 and a 70-foot 9-inch toss of the discus. Sixth place winners were: Ahlstrom with 14.60 in the 100 and Klinger with a 118.50 in the 400.
The Naselle boys had one second place finisher in Tak Sato at 11:31 in the 3,200. Evan Hendrickson followed him, taking third in a time of 12:34. Keegan McGuire finished fifth, two seconds back in 12:36.
The other third place Naselle boy finishers were: Dan White at 37 feet 7.5 inches in the shot put and the 4x100 relay team of Tony Mendoza, Aoy Marion, Ryan Nortrup, and Nate Moore in a team of 49.82. Fourth place finishers were: Marion at 16 feet 11 inches in the long jump; Moore at 2:12 in the 800; and the 4x400 relay team of Chris Dunn, Moore, Gavin Maxwell, and Corey Teubner in a time of 4:20.
Fifth place Naselle boy placers were: Nortrup at 12:47 in the 100; Preston Torppa at 27.35 in the 200; and Mendoza at 97 feet 5.5 inches in the discus.
Sixth place Naselle boy finishers were: Marion at 12.47 in the 100; Torppa at 14 feet 8 inches in the long jump; Mendoza at 34 feet 2.25 inches in the shot and at 110 feet 8 inches in the javelin.
