9 BALL LEAGUE CLOSES WITH A BANG

Doc's Subs with team members Don Sheldon, Mike Lambert, Jim Mortensen, Ron Alves, Bill Herman, and Doug Deilwitz held off the Old Fish Trap team lead by prominent plays from Astoria to retain the league title. B.C.A. 9-Ball had teams this season with the following sponsors: Doc's Tavern, The Foghorn, The Sea Hag, The Lamplighter, and Long Beach Tavern.

The 8-Ball season starts Oct. 30 so call 665-6863 if you are interested in starting a team or participating as a player.

5TH ANNUAL "FIEGE" BROOMSTICK TOURNEY HELD

On Sept. 27 through 29, the 5th Annual "Fiege" Broomstick tournament was held at the Long Beach Tavern. Fifteen teams participated, both local and out of town. The Last Chance Tavern teams from Kelso placed first and third. The Bigfoot Tavern from Washougal placed second, and local Foghorn Sports Pub placed fourth.

This tournament is a fund-raiser; the money is used for local youth groups, and is held in memory of Dick Fiege, who was an active member of the community. A good time was had by all!

Surfside Golf at 31508 "J" Place in Ocean Park, will hold their Octoberfest Scramble on Oct. 27. The event starts with an 8:30 a.m. Shotgun Start, and includes gross division and net division, K.P.'s and long drives, lunch is ijncluded. Entry deadline is Oct. 25.
