RAYMOND - Two days of track and field competition, with athletes hoping to qualify to district-level competition, were completed in the Sub-district Class 2B Meet held in Raymond (and Menlo) last Wednesday, May 7, and Friday, May 9. The top four places in running events and the top five places in field events qualified for the district meet to be held Saturday, May 17, beginning with field events at 11 a.m. and running events at 12:30 p.m. on Naselle's Rueben Penttila Field.
The Naselle Comets qualifiers were limited in number as the large girls teams entered by Northwest Christian (153 team points) and Tacoma Baptist (122 points) and boys teams such as those from Tacoma Baptist (144 team points), South Bend (138.5 points) and Northwest Christian (120 points) dominated the qualifiers. The Naselle boys scored 56 points and qualifying six different athletes for district while the Naselle girls tallied 43.5 points in seeing five different athletes qualify for next week's meet.
