CATHLAMET - The Naselle Comets cross country team finished fourth out of six teams in a meet held in Cathlamet Thursday, Sept. 19. The Naselle Jr. High runners also ran in the meet.

Erin Saari won the girls junior high 1.2 mile race in a time of 8:56. Kyle Burkhalter, running his first competitive race, finished fourth in the boys 1.2 mile junior high race in 9:01.

The high school course of 2.8 miles saw Nate Moore finish as Naselle's top runner, 17th in 18;58. The other Naselle scorers included: Tak Sato, 21st, 19:20; Ryan Nortrup, 30th, 20:58; Evan Hendrickson, 31st, 21; and Zach Badger, 33rd, 21:47.

Other Naselle finishers included: Keegan McGuire, 34th, 22:08; Sean Houghton, 36th, 27:20; Aoy Marion, 37th, 24:02; and Brandon Wirkkala, 38th, 24:04.

Coach Ryan Bjornsgard said, "We had three runners, Nate, Sean, and Tak, run their first race ever. I felt that with all of our inexperience, we did quite well."
