NASELLE - The match was tied two games to two, the final game was knotted at 14-14, and it was then that Valley scored the final two points to take a Pacific 2B League tilt 3-2 in Naselle Thursday. After losing game one 25-22, the Comets won a closely-contested second game 25-20 and then annihilated the Lady Vikings in game three 25-7.

In the fourth fray the Comets lost their momentum, thanks in part to five missed serves and a few lapses in communication, and fell behind 18-10. The home team made a 13-6 run and when Megan Agee served a pair of aces Naselle was down 24-23. A Comets' hitting error gave Valley the fourth game 25-23 and forced the deciding final contest. A passing mistake by Naselle and an ace by the Lady Vikings broke up the 14-14 tie in the pivotal game five, giving Valley the game and match 16-14.

Nicole Tarabochia led the Naselle attack with 11 kills and she had four digs and served five aces. Carley Kitzman recorded four blocks, six kills and served three aces. Taylor Wasmundt added nine kills and four digs and Haleigh See had a whopping 26 assists. Cassie Van Dusen chipped in three aces and four kills.

The Comets are now 5-6 on the season and 3-6 in league play. Naselle won the C-squad two games to none and the JV game three games to none to up their overall mark to 9-2.
