NASELLE - The Comets took Northwest Christian to the wood shed for an old-fashioned whipping Saturday as they dominated the Navigators 75-55 at Lyle Patterson Gymnasium and captured a share of first place in the Pacific 2B League.

Manny Lopez scored 18 points and dominated the glass with 17 rebounds and Austin Burkhalter added a dozen points and eight boards in three quarters of play as Naselle annihilated the Navigators by 35 points 63-28 early in the final period. Leonel Mendoza canned 15 points and had five steals as 11 Comets found the scoring column and 12 played roles in the blow out victory. John Hines had four assists and six caroms and Drew Macy dished out five for the winners.

Naselle dominated NWC on the glass 52-23 and both teams turned the basketball over 13 times. The Comets are now tied with South Bend at 7-2 atop the Pacific and the Navigators find themselves in third place and tied with Valley at 6-3.
