NASELLE - The Naselle Comets ground down the Oakville Acorns 3-0 in a Pacific League volleyball match played Tuesday, Oct. 12, in the Naselle gym.
The Comets wrapped up the convincing victory by holding the Acorns to single digit scoring in two of the three games and barely making it into double figures in the third game. The Naselle wins came on scores of 25-8, 25-10 and 25-3.
The Comets came out red hot, hitting 96 percent of their serves in game one, with Kelli Revis serving 10-in-a-row, with three aces. It was more of the same in game two, with Naselle leading all the way.
Coach Debbie Denny said, "I was able to play some of the younger players."
Brittanie Vaughn served 7-for-7, two being aces.
In game three, Denny said, "The team relaxed but was still able to lead the entire game."
Again several of the non-starters got some varsity playing time with good hitting bLady Comets just keep on winning
y Annie Herrold. Katie Klinger and Jamie Bighill had several assists for most of the kills.
Comets earn another 3-0 volleyball winMATLOCK - The Naselle Comets earned another 3-0 win in a Pacific League volleyball match, this one coming at the expense of the Mary M. Knight Owls Thursday, Oct. 14. The Comets win came on scores of 25-5, 25-17, and 25-16.
The Comets, behind the serving of Kelli Revis, ran away to an easy win in game one. Revis scored on 10-straight serves, including three aces. The Owls had trouble returning the Comets power serves as they only were able to score five points in the lopsided win.
Games two and three proved to more of a challenge for the blue and gold visitors, but they again relied on power serving to lead them to their win.
Brittanie Vaughn was a perfect 7-for-7 in serving, with two aces, in game two. Revis led the Comets with eight kills, with the Herrold sisters close behind in kills. Katherine earned seven kills and Annie six kills to augment the Comets win.
The Comets host Raymond this Thursday in a match which should go a long way in determining the Comets post-season tournament position.
