NASELLE — Naselle charged back from a 53-41 deficit against Lyle/Wishram with 2:45 to go to force overtime, where they won 63-60 Tuesday, Dec. 28. It was the second straight huge fourth quarter comeback for the Comets.
The Comets cut their deficit to 53-48 with a minute and a half to play. Donny Edwards made a three-pointer with just over a minute left to cut the lead to two, then a running shot just inside the three-point line to send it into overtime. Travis Pine scored five in the extra period.
Lyle led 30-17 at the half, but Pine scored 11 in the third period, when Naselle cut the lead to five, to keep them in striking distance; it was the third time this year he scored in double digits in a single quarter. Pine had led another huge fourth quarter comeback against Willapa Valley in Naselle’s previous game.
The Comets improved to 4-4 with the win, matching their win total from all of last season. Pine scored 26, Edwards had 12, and Ramzi Estes had ten. Elijah McCollough led the Cougars with 16.
NASELLE — Wahkiakum jumped out to a 33-14 halftime lead and beat Naselle 67-48. Zach Brown scored 23 for the Mules, and Ryan Quigley added 22. For Naselle Donny Edwards scored 19, and Ramzi Estes added ten.
