SOUTH BEND - The match had all the intensity of a district playoff and the Comets responded with an exceptional effort, but in the end it was the "little things, the untimely dropped balls or missed serves" that did in Naselle. The Comets lost to South Bend 3-0 in a key Pacific 2B League contest at Koplitz Gym Tuesday.
Naselle had won three league matches in a row and were within a play or two of upsetting the Indians in each of their three games. The Comets dropped all three frays by the closest of margins 25-23, 26-24, and 25-21. Carley Kitzman led Naselle at the net with six kills and a season-high five blocks.
