Comettes clip Elk 3-0 in league volleyball AMANDA PARK - Sophomore Annie Herrold led the Naselle Comettes to their seventh volleyball win of the year Tuesday, Oct. 15, over the Lake Quinault Elk at Amanda Park, the home of the Elk. The Comettes' 3-0 win came on game scores of 15-6, 15-1, and 15-9 and gave NHS a 3-0 Pacific league record, 7-2 for the season.
Herrold successfully popped in 17 of her 18 serves, including three aces in her accurate display of serving, as the Comette overwhelmed the Elk in the first two games and won the third game by a comfortable margin.
Abbie Smith's play at the net was also a key factor in the Comettes' romp over the Elk. Jordan Varila's setting continued to be vital in setting up the NHS scoring.
After winning the first two games with ease, NHS subbed liberally in game three and still won the game by a comfortable margin.

Comettes have trouble in Adna tournamentADNA - The Naselle Comettes volleyball team ran into some tough teams in the Adna Invitational Varsity Volleyball Tournament Saturday, Oct. 19. NHS went 4-4 in single game pool play. NHS then won a game and then lost the game for fifth place, again in single games, for 5-5 record for the day.
In pool play, NHS beat Raymond, Napavine, Rainier, and Pe Ell and lost to Morton, Toledo, South Bend, and Adna. That record put NHS into a tie for fifth with Morton. NHS then beat Raymond and lost to Morton in the game for 5th/6th place giving the Comettes a sixth place finish in the nine team tournament.
The top four teams in the tournament included Adna, Pe Ell, South Bend,and Toledo
The Comettes have two home matches this week. They played Northwest Christian last night (Tuesday) and Oakville is at Naselle this Thursday. Both matches are Pacific League matches.
