ILWACO - The Naselle track team was only able to suit-up eight athletes for the Ilwaco Invitational Tuesday, because of practice requirements and conflicts with other sports.
Track coach Debbie Denny said, "I only had athletes that had gotten their 10 practices in. I was also missing a couple more who were at a softball game because they are doing dual sports."
The girls team entered seven - they all placed.
Erin Saari, Katherine Herrold and Jenny Klinger took home first place in their respective events. Saari in the high jump at 4-feet-6; Herrold in the 1600 with a time of 6:38 and Klinger in the 3200, with a time of 14:12.
Those three, along with K. Fletcher, also went on to take second in the 4x400 relay. Saari also took seond palce in pole vault, with a try of 7 feet. Kelli Revis took second in high jump, at 4-feet-4.
Fourth place winners included Saari in long jump, 12-feet-4; Fletcher in the 200, 31:28; and the 4x100 relay team (Revis, Bighill, Rodriguez, Fletcher) 62.61.
In fifth place, S. Rodriguez in the long jump, 12-feet-6; Bighill in the 200, 33:28 and high jump, 4-foot-6. Fletcher also took home sixth palce in the long jump,12-foot-4.
Only one Naselle boy was eligible to compete, Jeremy Ray did not place in his only event, the long jump.
