ILWACO - The 2008 District IV boys and girls basketball tournament brackets have been announced, with the top four teams in the Trico League and Evergreen League squaring off in inverse order. There will be three berths to the State 1A Tournament in Yakima's Sun Dome up for grabs for both the boys and girls. All district games are set to tip off at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The girls' tournament will begin Feb. 13 at Mark Morris and Centralia and the second round will be Feb. 15 at Rochester or Mark Morris. The girls' elimination games will be Feb. 20 at Centralia and the winner-to-state and championship contests will be held Feb. 22 at Chehalis.

The boys' tournament will begin Feb. 14 at Kelso and Chehalis and the second round will be Feb. 16 at the same sites. The boys' elimination games will be Feb. 21 at Centralia and the winner-to-state and championship contests will be held Feb. 23 at Kelso.

Any ties will be decided by coin flip except for fourth and fifth places, in which case a playoff game at a neutral site will determine the final berth to district.

Girls' games begin between the Central and Pacific League third through sixth place teams crossing over and playing at the higher seeded team's home gym at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Winners of the first round games play against the first and second place league finishers Friday, Feb. 15 in either Castle Rock or Montesano at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. The losers of the first round games play the losers of the second round games beginning at 2:30 p.m. in Rochester on Monday, Feb. 18, with three more contests beginning at 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7 p.m. to follow.

The losers bracket semi-finals will be Wednesday, Feb. 20 in Rochester and the winners bracket semi-finals will be in Chehalis, with games beginning at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 in Rochester the losers bracket winners will play the winners bracket losers at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. with two state berths at stake.

Saturday in Chehalis the girls' game for third and fourth place will be at 1 p.m. and the girls' championship will be at 6 p.m., with both teams advancing to the State 2B Tournament in Spokane.

Saturday in Chehalis the boys' game for third and fourth place will be at 2:30 p.m. and the boys' championship will be at 8 p.m., with both teams advancing to the State 2B Tournament in the Spokane Coliseum the following Wednesday through Saturday, Feb. 27 through March 1.
