LONG?BEACH — 420 runners hit the beach last Saturday to take part in the 34th annual Beach to Chowder Run. 

Winning the half marathon was Michael Western of Waverly, Iowa, with a time of 1:19:56, followed by Mark Cook of Keyport and Brent Biggar of Wenatchee. Seaview’s Tom Sutherland finished 10th in the race with a time of 1:38:14.

In the 10K race Jesse Stevick of Olympia took first place with a time of 37:37, followed by 15-year-old Morgan Webber of Cabot, Ore., and Drew George of Pullman. Ge Yundi of Long Beach was the top local finisher in the race, taking 25th place with a time of  53:04.

And in the 5K, 17-year-old Nate Meagher of Adna took first with a time of 20:41, followed shortly thereafter by 11-year-old Bradley Rzewnicki and his father David Rzewnicki. Ilwaco High School’s Leticia Cervantes was the top local finisher, taking 11th place in a time of 24:02.
