STEVENSON — Katie Lindstrom won the 300-meter hurdles at the Trico 1A League track meet in Stevenson May 10 and set the school record in the event with a time of 48.75 and she qualified for the district meet in the 100-meter high hurdles by coming in fourth in 17.23.

Cindy Pacheco placed second in the javelin with a toss of 104-feet-5 and she was fourth in the discus with a spin of 92-feet-7. Hannah Ellsworth also qualified for district in the javelin with a throw of 98 feet. Kenny Price made the cut for district by claiming fourth place in the 400-meter race in 53.84.

Corbin Sutherland was third in the 800 in 2:07.78 and fourth in the 1,600 in 4:55.56. Evan Sutherland was third in the 3,200 in 10:43.97. Joshawah Eagle-Bear qualified in the high jump by going over 5-feet-2.

“It was good to make it again in the 3,200. I had an OK race and with a lap or two to go I knew I was going to make it to district. I will just work on my distance running this week. Just put one foot in front of the other over and over, that’s the key,” Evan Sutherland said.

“I was relieved to qualify for district in two events. I will focus on my speed work in the 800 and do my best to match the competition in the mile,” Corbin Sutherland related.

Jacob Malmstadt placed ninth in the 100-meter dash and Ilwaco’s 4x100 relay team of Price, Eric McMillan, Malmstadt and Keishi Thompson was sixth in 48.15 while the 4x400 team of Price, Malmstadt, James Schenk and Corbin Sutherland was seventh in 3:52.19. McMillan was 13th in the shot put and ninth in the discus. Zak Berteaux was 10th in the javelin, Keishi Thompson 14th and Riki Thompson 20th.

The Lady Fishermen 4x400 relay team of Pacheco, Lindstrom, Ellsworth and Merissa Cass was sixth in 4:45.61. Cass cleared 7 feet in the pole vault and placed eighth.

“Kenny Price worked hard in cross country and it is now paying off for him in track. Corbin Sutherland is having a great senior year and he is hoping his next race will be his best. Evan Sutherland is running very well also and is hoping to do well at district,” coach Sarah Taylor said.

“Joshawah Eagle-Bear is very consistent in the high jump and he is hoping to go past his PR of 5-feet-2 at district. Valerie Lindstrom sets a school record in the hurdles just about every week. Coach Gene Ford is working his magic with her in the hurdles.

“Cindy Pacheco had a big PR by over seven feet in the discus and Nick Lyster has done wonders for her and for Hannah Ellsworth in the throwing events. Riki Thompson shows a lot of potential in the throwing events and Zak Berteaux has improved his senior year,” Taylor said.
