RAYMOND - The Ilwaco boys were second and the girls placed third at a seven-school track meet in Raymond Thursday, May 5. Owen Sutherland was a double-winner for the Fishermen in the 800 in 2:12.47 and the 1,600 in 4:51.7 and Leticia Cervantes won the javelin with a throw of 117-feet-5 and the pole vault by clearing 7-feet-6.
For the Lady Fishermen Raven Rogers was victorious in the 300 meter low hurdles in 55.26 and Kenzi Wirkkala was the shot put champion with a throw of 31-feet-10 and she was second in the javelin at 110-feet-2. Merissa Cass and Tawnie Nesbitt tied for second in the pole vault (7-feet) and Amanda Bell was second in the discus (82-feet-6).
Brandon Malmstadt won the 400 meter run in 53.25 for the Fishermen and he was second in the 100 in 11.78. Andy Schott came in first in the 300 hurdles in 46.86, Ben Ahlin won the pole vault by clearing 10-feet-9 and Cody Wright was second at 10-feet. Malmstadt, Taylor Odneal, and Josh and Justice Schenk combined to win the 4x100 relay in 46.35 and the 4x400 relay in 3:41.33 for Ilwaco.
Josh Schenk was third in the 100 (11.83) and Justice Schenk came in fifth. Corbin Sutherland was sixth in the 400, Marcos Merino Diaz was fifth in the 800 and Schott was sixth in the 110 high hurdles. Schott was fourth in the 3,200, Merino Diaz fifth, and Elliot Marcus was sixth. Eli Schenk placed fifth in the 300 hurdles and Kento Thompson was sixth.
Schott, Ahlin, Owen, and Corbin Sutherland finished third in the 4x400 relay in 3:58.91. Kyle Breckinridge placed fourth in the shot put, Kasey Plato was fourth in the javelin, and Josh Schenk finished fourth in the long jump. Wright was fifth in the high jump and Corbin Sutherland placed sixth in the pole vault.
For the Lady Fishermen Cass was third in the 800 in 2:59.99 and the 1,600 in 7:10.08. Rissa Gerke was second in the 3,200 in 17:46.2 and Rogers placed third in the 100 low hurdles in 17.44. Nesbitt, Bell, Elli Fox, and Rogers teamed up to place third in the 4x100 relay in 59.61.
Nesbitt was second in the high jump with a leap of 4-feet-9 and Rebecca Curry was sixth in the discus and Bell sixth in the javelin, while Fox came in fourth in the triple jump.
Austin Robertson, Carsen Fox, Kevin Johnson, Tyler Miklos, Adam Cook, Will Kulm, Beau Morrow, and Harley Weyl competed, but did not place.
