CHEHALIS - Despite their attempts to play a hard-nosed style game, the Ilwaco Fishermen were no match for the 20-2 Winlock Cardinals, who played a string second half in winning 61-46 and advancing to the District IV championship game. The Fishermen must now win their next two games to make the state tournament.

The Fishermen kept the score close throughout the first half, down only 3 points going into halftime. The third quarter however was another story, as the Cardinals staked themselves to a large lead. In the fourth quarter the wheels came off for Ilwaco as center Ryan Blake fouled out, Matt Kaino was ejected with his second technical foul and coach Paul Jarret was tossed after he was given two technicals as well.

The Fishermen now play a Thursday Feb. 21 loser-out game at Centralia against Kalama at 6:30 p.m. If they win that game they will play in the third place game on Saturday Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Kelso. If they lose they are eliminated from the postseason.
