ILWACO - The fall sports awards were presented at Ilwaco High School Tuesday, Nov. 9 by athletic director Kevin McNulty and all awards were voted on by the players on the various teams. Varsity volleyball MVP was Alexa Wirkkala, most improved was Kenzi Wirkkala, and most inspirational was McKenzie Stockfleth for Coach Marie Green. Junior varsity volleyball MVP was Noelle McPhail, inspirational Jessica Deibert, and most improved was Dibb Suwanarat.
Cross country most improved athletes were Merissa Cass and Andy Schott, inspirational were Rissa Gerke and Owen Sutherland, and MVP were Brandon Malmstadt and Cindy Pacheco for Coach Sarah Taylor. Captains were Owen Sutherland and Pacheco at the high school and Evan Sutherland for the Ilwaco Middle School. Junior high team spirit award went to Grace Bruncke.
Coach McNulty gave the Mr. Football award to Dylan Short, most improved was Kasey Plato, and inspirational was Josh Berteaux. Captains were Taylor Odneal and Short and coach's awards went to Elliott Marcus and Matt Wood. On the Trico all-conference team were Bobby Byrd and Wood, and honorable mention were Marcus, Short, and Odneal.
Three football Comets on all-academicNASELLE - Three athletes were among the 16 Pacific 2B League football players to make the all-academic team with a 3.7 cumulative grade point or higher. Comets Paul de Montaudouin, Trevin Leeland, and Chandler Chapman earned the honor.
