PASCO - Kelly Freese finished 20th at the cross country state meet in at Willows Golf Course in Pasco Saturday and Stephen Berglund was 22nd in the boys' competition at the big race for Ilwaco. Freese's time was 21:05 and Berglund ran the hilly course in 17:47. Berglund finished 31st last season and improved his time 20 seconds. Freese was sixth as a junior in 20:18.

Cameo Ulbricht came in 48th of 139 runners at state with a time of 22:12. Last year as a freshman she ran 22:09 and placed 41st. Evin LaPlatney was 54th of 142 runners for the boys with a time of 18:38.

King's again won the girls team state title, edging LaCenter 70-89 and their Olivia Thomas defeated Fork's Chanda Romney for the individual title. Onalaska girls were 11th.

Royal won the team championship and Humberto and Rigoberto Jimenez tied for first with identical 16:18 times. Onalaska was fifth and LaCenter 11th. The Jimenez brothers from Royal also placed one-two in last year's state cross country meet.
